How Rakaat handles your data.

Data We Store

• Completed prayers, prayer sessions, and excused prayers are stored on your device using SwiftData.
• Settings such as appearance, prayer calculation preferences, reminders, and accessibility options are stored locally in UserDefaults.
• In-app notification history is stored on-device to show scheduled and delivered notifications.

Optional Permissions

• Location (While Using or Always, with your permission): used to calculate prayer times and guide Qibla direction. With automatic location enabled and Always access granted, iOS reports significant moves in the background so prayer times and notifications can follow you during travel. Manual city mode is available.
• Apple's location and map services may process coordinates to determine your city and timezone. Rakaat stores the current location and city on your device; a city name saved with a prayer may also sync in your private iCloud database when sync is enabled. Rakaat does not send your coordinates to its own servers.
• Notifications: used for prayer alerts, pre-prayer reminders, and motivational reminders.
• Alarms: a separate, optional permission to schedule the Fajr alarm through Apple's alarm system. You can turn off the Fajr alarm in Rakaat or change alarm access in iOS Settings.
• Apple Health: optional, used to save your prayers and prayer sessions under Mindful Minutes, and to restore the records previously saved by Rakaat when you allow read access.
• Rakaat only uses Mindful Minutes. It does not access any other Apple Health data.
• Apple Home (HomeKit): optional, used to read your scenes and create prayer-time routines in your chosen home. Rakaat keeps routine settings on this device. Apple manages Home data, synchronization, and execution on your devices and home hub. Rakaat does not send Home data to its own servers.
• Siri & Shortcuts: optional, used to provide voice interactions and expose prayer data for your personal automations.
• iCloud Sync: optional CloudKit Private Database sync for your prayers, prayer sessions, and excused prayers across your devices.

What We Do Not Do

• No behavioral analytics and no usage tracking.
• No advertising identifiers.
• No sale of personal data and no sharing with ad networks.
• No background location tracking for profiling.
• No medical or clinical health data access (such as conditions, lab results, medications, or records).

Data Control

• You can disable iCloud Sync at any time from Settings.
• You can clear your prayers and prayer sessions from Data Management. Deletions also sync to your private iCloud database when iCloud Sync is enabled.
• Clearing activity also attempts to delete Rakaat's corresponding Apple Health records when access is available. If access is denied or deletion fails, you can remove them in Apple Health. Removing the app alone does not delete records already saved in Apple Health or iCloud.
• You can change location, notification, alarm, Apple Health, and Home permissions in iOS Settings. Turn off automatic location or choose a city manually to stop background location updates.
• Removing the app deletes local app data according to iOS behavior.

Website Data

The app policy above describes the Rakaat iOS app. The website uses the services below separately; website analytics do not receive your prayer history or Apple Health records.

• Hosting: Cloudflare processes network requests and technical information, such as IP addresses, to serve and protect this website.
• Website location: the site may estimate your city from your IP address through BigDataCloud or Cloudflare. If you grant browser location permission, your coordinates are sent to BigDataCloud to resolve your city and display prayer times. Your last location is cached in your browser’s local storage for reuse.
• Website analytics: Google Analytics loads after interaction with the site and uses cookies and usage events, including page views and App Store link clicks, to help us understand website use. Google may process browser, device, and network information under its own privacy policy.
• Your controls: you can revoke browser location permission, clear this site’s cookies and local storage, and use browser settings or blocking tools to limit analytics.
